How to apply for a residential care framework
Councils buy residential care home places through frameworks, approved provider lists and fee-banded arrangements. You pass a selection stage on registration, insurance and finances, then score on quality of life, safeguarding, dignity, and how you manage admissions and complex needs. A place on the framework is what lets the council place residents with you. We check you qualify for free first.
How places are bought
Residential care is often arranged through a framework or approved list with banded fee rates rather than a single contract value. Being on the list is what makes you visible when a placement officer needs a bed. Lots are sometimes split by need, such as standard residential, dementia, or complex behaviour, so the band and lot you sit in shape the referrals you get.
What the quality questions cover
Expect scored questions on safeguarding and how you respond to concerns, quality of life and dignity, managing admissions and discharges, falls and pressure care, and how you handle people with dementia or complex needs. Commissioners also look hard at your CQC history and how you respond to and recover from a poor inspection. Concrete examples and named processes score; general reassurance does not.
Common pitfalls
